Rising K-Pop group 1VERSE have returned with their newest single album, ‘LOOP.’ The track features an up-tempo electric pop sound, similar to sounds often heard at an arcade. Paired with the track is the music video, which takes place in an actual arcade, where members KENNY, NATHAN and AITO play games and have fun.
The 1VERSE members were able to sit down with us at Press Sound and talk more in depth about ‘LOOP’, claw machines, and more.
The music video features the members at an arcade. Do you have any memories from the shoot?
NATHAN: “The whole music video is like a fever dream. We were just playing games and having fun and kind of forgetting that the cameras are on sometimes. For example, one of the last scenes we filmed we were all playing a game and all of a sudden we heard, “cut!”
KENNY: “Every single time we touched a machine it made a sound and just didn’t turn off. One memory that I have is that we would sit on the arcade machine and it would say, ‘Get ready to fight!’ and we had to literally unplug all of the machines to make sure that it doesn’t make a sound while we were making the video. That was fun.”
AITO: “The idea of shooting the music video in the arcade was really new and refreshing to me and we were really excited to shoot the music video.”

When you’re writing, do you go into the studio with an idea for the lyrics, or do you write the first thing that comes mind? What is your writing process?
KENNY: “It depends on the case file we’re given. If we are looking for the title track, then they will tell us the brief. Then they will give us all the references and say to make a song. Then we will choose out of some tracks which ones we want to work on. Or sometimes they will tell us that they have a producer or song writer that is really well known, so let’s make a song. That is what happened with ‘LOOP.’ Michelle told me to study “sexy drills” and I said that I would research it and make a song. So it really depends on the prompt.”

Through your music, you have shown different sides. Is there a concept or genre you would like to try next?
AITO: “I want to try a sexy concept.”
KENNY: “If we do get to do solo projects, I want to do kind of like a short film into a song.”
AITO: “So no solo sexy concept?”
KENNY: “If we don’t have to have sexy, then I gladly won’t do it. Sexy and me just don’t work, you know? It’s like water and oil.”
NATHAN: “A genre I would really love to do is R&B. Old school R&B or new R&B.”
KENNY: “I agree. Let’s do R&B.”
1VERSE is constantly growing and trying new sounds. With 5TARZ around the world at their side, there is no doubt that they will achieve even more.
