SOYEON of i-dle has released her debut album, What a Wonderful Life, which is now available on all streaming platforms. This release marks her return as a solo artist since her first mini album, Windy, in 2021.
What a Wonderful Life showcases new sides of SOYEON through a variety of genres. Her reputation as a producer proceeds her through this album as she participated in writing and composing each track. Moving across a broad musical spectrum of genres spanning rock, hyperpop, disco and band-driven sounds, What a Wonderful Life showcases her distinctive musical style.
The title track, “I’m gonna TOESA (Narr KIAN84)’, takes the idea of quitting one’s job with its relatable lyrics. The music video features SOYEON as the protagonist of a 2000s-era drama who decides to leave her mundane office life behind and begins checking items off her bucket list. Actress Sunwoo Yong-nyeo also makes a special appearance in the video.
What a Wonderful Life features a total of eight tracks, including the title track. Several of the songs had already drawn attention ahead of the album’s release, including “icebluerabbit”, which was first unveiled during the 2026 i-dle WORLD TOUR [Syncopation]; the powerful EDM track “STAR”, and the playful “Hate veggie song”, reminiscent of an anime opening.
The album also offers a range of genres and emotions, including the rock-based “Bankroll”, which highlights SOYEON’s vocals; “Amigo (Feat. Minsu)”, which samples Madonna’s hit “Like a Virgin” and features a retro vibe, “Would you love me”, which portrays honest feels regarding love; and “Goodbye, Romance”, which expresses lingering longing and regret after a breakup and features heavy guitar sounds.
Since her debut, SOYEON has established herself as a leading producer within the K-Pop genre. Beyond her work as a member of the group i-dle, she has demonstrated many of her abilities through a range of projects, including but not limited to producing for survival show programs and rookie girl groups. Global K-Pop fans are showing interest in this new album, which offers a glimpse into the evolution of SOYEON as she continues to be a trendsetter within the industry while embracing bold new challenges.
Following the release of What a Wonderful Life, SOYEON will continue her promotions through various music shows and programs.
