The newest Korean music program SHOW K-POP, hosted by ARIRANG TV, has officially aired their first episode! The program that is MC’ed by ZEROBASEONE’s Seok Matthew, is in English and aims to capture a global audience through the performances and fun and witty scripts. It airs every Monday at 6:00pm KST on ARIRANG TV as well as on their Tiktok account.
ARIRANG TV is an English language based television program in Seoul that broadcasts news 24/7 to a global audience. The report of this new program came suddenly, with only a week’s notice before the first episode aired.
Since airing, fans across all platforms have compared the show to one of ARIRANG TV’s most iconic shows, After School Club, as it was also conducted in English. Others are wondering if this is a revival of the previous music show, Simply KPOP, which was cancelled just last year.
Unlike most Korean music shows, SHOW K-POP will feature a live voting component along with a pre-voting method on the Mubeat app.
Each week, the show will contain a plethora of groups and artists who will perform and compete for a win. There is much speculation online regarding this show, and many are hoping that it will aid in shining a light on some lesser known or upcoming groups, similar to the previously cancelled music program, The Show.
