TOMORROW X TOGETHER surprised fans with an hour long livestream, following the cancellation of the Global Citizen Festival. The festival was set to take place at Central Park in New York City on Saturday, but was cancelled due to severe weather. The group was scheduled to open the festival.
On Friday, Global Citizen put out a statement on all of their social medias, announcing that the cancellation was not taken lightly, but due to the incoming nor’easter, it was not deemed as safe to continue and that refunds would be processed.
The Global Citizen Festival is an annual music festival ran by Global Citizen–a non profit organization– that aims to end poverty. Tickets for the festival are typically sold on Ticketmaster, but they can also be earned by signing petitions, writing messages or donating.
The announcement of the cancellation came as a shock to some, with many fans, MOA (TOMORROW X TOGETHER fandom) included, having traveled across the country to see their favorite artists. In the end, the members of TOMORROW X TOGETHER did not want to disappoint their fans or let their hard work go to waste, so the group rented out a dance practice space to livestream their entire Global Citizen Festival set.
A total of five songs were performed from the group, including a small set from member YEONJUN and a special cover of Justin Bieber’s hit, “Beauty and a Beat.” The members even went through their show script and took the opportunity to have fun with their backup dancers and highlight their talents.
Dressed head to toe in their stage outfits, each member gave it their all as if they were performing at the festival, once again proving themselves as established artists.
USA MOA still have more opportunities to see the group as they will bring their ‘STEAL THE WIND’ tour to seven different states in the spring.
